Edgeborough recognised for excellence in Early Years Emotional Wellbeing

Head of Pre‑Prep Jayne Symons appears in the Spring issue of The Guide to Independent Schools. She shares her expertise on emotional wellbeing in the Early Years.

Emotional Wellbeing at the Heart of Early Years Education

At Edgeborough, emotional wellbeing guides our Early Years approach. Over recent years, teachers have focused on helping young children understand their emotions. As a result, pupils grow more confident and more aware of themselves and others.

In addition, staff use the latest neuroscience research to shape daily practice. This approach helps children recognise feelings, regulate emotions, build resilience, develop empathy and strengthen learning habits. Consequently, classrooms feel calmer, happier and more productive.

National Award for Early Years Excellence

Edgeborough recently won the TES national award for Early Years Foundation Setting of the Year. The judges praised the ‘holistic understanding of child development, neuroscience and social and emotional wellbeing’ as exemplary. The award reflects the dedication of the Early Years team and Dr Symons’ leadership.
