Edgeborough Science Week – A Cross Curricular Adventure!
What an incredible Edgeborough Science Week, packed with cross-curricular learning and a focus on building PSB skills! 🧪🚀
Monday – Pupils in Years 1–6 explored scientific concepts through Drama/Science workshops. Role play, movement, and play brought famous scientists and discoveries to life, sparking curiosity and creativity.
Tuesday – The Great Pancake Mystery! We welcomed 14 girls from Cherrywood Community Primary to join the investigation, boosting STEM exposure for girls. Using forensic analysis — fingerprints, hair samples, blood spatter, and code breaking — the young detectives cracked the case, with Miss Toynton found guilty by unanimous verdict!
Wednesday – Year 7’s STEAM challenge put their collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills to the test. Programming Sphero robots through tunnels, ramps, and corners was no easy feat — but they tackled it with resilience, improving their coding and teamwork along the way.
Thursday – The annual Year 3–6 STEAM Fair Finals filled the DHT with excitement and curiosity. Finalists impressed with their depth of knowledge and passion for their projects. Huge thanks to Abby Higgins, Head of Biology at Charterhouse, for being our guest judge. Winners will be revealed at Prize Giving next week!
Friday – 6T’s assembly celebrated the importance of mistakes in scientific discoveries — from microwaves to pacemakers and post-it notes, they reminded us that learning from failure fuels success.
Tying in with National Careers Week, Year 8 took part in STEAM career workshops sponsored by EA Sports. From designing and marketing trainers to programming video games and exploring future homes, the sessions sparked meaningful self-reflection and career conversations.
