Edgeborough confident problem solvers are celebrating another standout year of mathematical success.

Competing on a National Stage

This spring, 66 pupils from Years 5 and 6 took part in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge.
They joined more than 300,000 pupils across the country. The challenge is no easy task.
It demands logic, fluency and high-level reasoning. Even entering the competition is a significant accomplishment. But Edgeborough pupils didn’t just take part — they excelled.

Results That Go Beyond the Average

Pupils achieved 5 Gold, 17 Silver and 19 Bronze certificates. That means 60% of those entered received national recognition. By comparison, only half of entrants across the UK received an award.

These results clearly show that Edgeborough pupils are performing well above the national average.
They are rising to the challenge — and exceeding expectations.

Four Pupils Qualify for the Kangaroo

Going even further, four pupils earned scores within the top 3% nationally. Charles S, Ivy L, Xander B and Katie S all qualified for the prestigious Kangaroo round. Ivy L also received Best in Year 6 – a brilliant individual result.

Success Built on Stretch, Support and Challenge

Earlier in the year, four pupils reached the bonus round of the Primary Maths Challenge.
Arthur R proudly came away with a Bronze award. Together, these achievements highlight something important. Edgeborough isn’t just teaching maths — it’s developing Edgeborough’s confident problem solvers.
