Science week at Edgeborough

What an amazing science week Edgeborough has had for Years 1-8, full of experiments, learning, fun and detective work!

Monday, Years 1-8 were fortunate to take part in the Greenupyouract workshop. From exploring sustainable materials to discovering new ways to care for our planet, the sessions sparked thoughtful conversations.

Tuesday, Year 4 turned into mini detectives for the day to find out who stole the Mr Cox’s dog, poor little Salty!🐾Throughout the day blood and hair sampling, along with finger and footprint analysis has taken place. Codes were decoded and mysterious ink was examined. Thankfully Salty was returned with Mr Wheble being correctly found guilty. Mr Cox had a few words to say about that! Thank you Year 4 and Cherrywood primary who came to share the forensic investigations with us. Year 5 also enjoyed a Science busking afternoon: Special shout out to the OE’s, Kit and Robyn, who returned to Edgeborough and who helped make the day so memorable. Our Year 5 pupils had a ball creating their very own Glovaphones and exploring the fantastic senior school experiments introduced by the sixth formers.

Wednesday, Year 7 enjoyed a STEM morning challenge

Thursday, Years 3-6 enjoyed a wonderful Science Fair, where the pupils explored any topic within STEAM and presented their new knowledge for other children to learn in a ‘market stall’ style arrangement.

Friday, Year 6 visited Brooklands and Year 8 undertook a Crest Award Challenge – allowing pupils to run their own investigation from start to finish and create the project how they want to. This year, the theme was creating their own water capture, storage and delivery system.
