Nursery and Pre-School children experience a caring and stimulating environment whilst being an integral part of the school, sharing specialist French and PE teachers and the beautiful school grounds, although situated in their own exclusive house and gardens.
It is in our Nursery and Pre-School that your child’s Edgeborough adventure takes flight. From the age of 2, children may join our happy and flourishing Nursery family and become a part of a supportive, enriching and caring community. In the academic year within which the child turns 4 years of age, they progress to our Pre-School community.
The Nursery Day is built around active, rich play; eager, sensory exploration and authentic, purposeful routine. Structure is offered through key points of the day, including shared reading sessions, songs, lunch, walks and snacks. In essence, the environment offers an arena within which staff can follow the child, play alongside them, structure their learning and expand their interactions with friends.
Quite simply, no day is the same and whilst common features might be shared, the children, staff and Mother Nature bring wonderful uniqueness to daily content and the journey travelled by the children.
Nursery children start with a minimum of two morning sessions but many will stay for longer and enjoy lunches at school and the afternoon session. For children in the Pre-School, session bookings generally increase over the course of the school year in preparation for Reception. Children can attend any number of sessions in both the Nursery and the Pre-School, depending on availability.
Sessions are booked in advance of each term. Should the required session be oversubscribed, preference will be given to children who are entering the Pre-Prep the following September.

For the Pre-School children magic awaits them in our weekly Forest School sessions.

Emphasis is given to helping each child develop in the EYFS’s core areas of learning; communication, physical development and their personal, social and emotional development.
